The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is the civic body responsible for the governance and administration of Ahmedabad, Gujarat – one of India’s fastest-growing metropolitan cities. AMC oversees public infrastructure, urban planning, waste management, and civic amenities across a population of over 8 million. To support transparent governance and enhance citizen engagement, AMC regularly conducts council meetings, public hearings, and official briefings that require high-quality audio systems capable of capturing every voice clearly in large meeting halls.
AMC’s older audio setup suffered from unclear speech pickup, excessive noise, and non-uniform audio distribution in their large council chambers. Officials and citizens often found speeches difficult to follow during live sessions and recordings. Ambient noise from HVAC systems and audience movement further degraded audio intelligibility, hampering documentation and live broadcasting. The challenge was to install a reliable sound capture and processing system that could handle multiple speakers, reduce environmental noise, and provide clarity for both in-room and broadcast audio.
To address these needs, AMC adopted the VI60DB Boundary Layer Microphone coupled with Keyer Digital Signal Processing (DSP) units. The VI60DB’s low-profile boundary design allowed discreet placement on meeting tables, ensuring consistent speech pickup from all participants. The Keyer DSP brought advanced processing capabilities – including noise suppression, automatic gain control, feedback elimination, and digital mixing – enabling a clean, intelligible output even in challenging acoustic environments.
The combined system delivered unified, high-quality audio across the council hall. The boundary layer microphones captured speech naturally without obstruction, while the Keyer DSP optimized sound clarity in real time. Ambient noise was significantly reduced, and every speaker’s contribution was distinctly intelligible on recordings and live streams. The new setup also simplified audio management for technicians through intuitive DSP controls.
Since implementation, AMC has experienced marked improvements in meeting productivity and public accessibility. Clearer audio has enhanced decision-making during council sessions and improved transparency for citizens watching or listening remotely. Recordings are now clearer for archival and compliance purposes. Overall, the solution strengthened civic communication and reflected AMC’s commitment to efficient, modern governance.
